If you are interested in setting up a memorial, Trust, or after-life gift, our Director would be more than happy to meet you with to discuss options and provide any assistance you may need.

DMCHS Generous Donation Recognition

For a gift falling into one of the levels below, a pet-themed plate will be engraved with your name and/or memorial designee, and the amount donated.

Orders for plates will be put in twice a year, in January and July.

Plates will be mounted on the donor wall in the Burlington Animal Shelter’s Community Room.

$500-$999- 6-inch plate

$1000-$2499- 8-inch plate

$2500-$10,000- 10-inch plate

$10,000 and over- 12-inch plate

Sponsor a Kennel

For as little as $15 a month, you can sponsor a kennel at the Burlington Animal Shelter. The kennel sponsorship program is open to individuals, groups, companies and other organizations. Your sponsorship helps provide care for the animals that pass through the shelter doors.

The name of the sponsor and a short dedication will be framed and hung on the kennel. An annual tax deduction statement will be provided upon request.

PetCo Love Foundation Grants

We are very thankful for grants we do receive at the shelter, Petco Foundation has helped us out quite often when in need. We just received a grant for $10,000 for our outside runs to get an update which was much needed! Our doors were sticking and the parts were rusty and not working very well for us, even got to be a little dangerous sometimes dealing with the doors sticking in our Quarantine room. We now have updated doors and hardware that works and is not rusted out!

Every year we have events that need sponsors, silent auction items, door prizes, etc.

This is a list of our annual events and what is needed to make it a successful event for our pets.

*Online Auctions: These run in Spring and Fall, baskets can be made up from companies, or individuals for our auctions, we use Facebook and your name will be on the auction item as donated by.

*Trivia/Bingo nights: $500-$700 sponsor to help pay for the DJ and food, these are usually held in March and October.

*Putts Fore Pets: In June we have our annual golf tournament, we are in need of sponsors to help with costs. Each hole has a $100 sponsor, that is 18 holes to find sponsors for. Your name will be on a sign at the hole for recognition. Gift baskets for the silent auction are needed also.

*DMCHS Annual Car Show: Trophy Sponsorship $400, T-shirt sponsorship $600, Products for door prizes and silent auction, too.

*Annual Dart Duel: Bake sale and silent auction items will be needed.

*4th of July Parade in West Burlington: Candy sponsors are appreciated.

*Wags and Tails Doggie Easter Egg hunt: Treat sponsors are appreciated, we fill over 500 eggs for the pups to hunt.

Des Moines County Humane Society's Sponsor

is dedicated to supporting the efforts of pet rescue non profits throughout the United States.

Observing various pet rescue organizations and the struggles they face in their daily operations, The Buzz Group has built a web-based, integrated software platform to support the efforts of these groups. It is called Buzz to the Rescues. The Buzz to the Rescues platform is designed to integrate and simplify the administrative tasks surrounding dogs, adopters, fosters, volunteers, events and donations for the organization.

The integrated platform easily links dogs to fosters and new owners, while tracking medical history, and dispositions for the dogs. The application process helps maintain family and home information in one place and offers online home visit detail and approval process for potential adopters. Finally, once adopted, dogs and new owners are linked for historical purposes.
