Spaying or neutering your pet is an important responsibility. Every year, more cats and dogs are born than rescues have space to care for, and unplanned litters only add to the strain.
We understand that the cost can be challenging, but responsible pet ownership matters — and we’re here to help. After listening to our community, we’ve created a reduced‑cost spay/neuter clinic for the Des Moines County area. We’re still in the early stages, and each day we’re improving our process to make it easier and more accessible.
We’re excited to share that our very first spay/neuter clinic was held on May 31, 2025, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community.
Payment is required at the time you schedule your appointment. Please note that no‑shows are non‑refundable, as each appointment slot must be filled and paid for in advance.
There is a $5.00 service fee for credit card payments. If you prefer to avoid this fee, you may stop by the shelter to pay with cash. Please make in‑person payments at least 3 days before the scheduled surgery date.
If our veterinarian is unable to attend on the day of surgery and we need to reschedule, we will contact you directly.

Male Dog Neuter up to 79 LBS $165.00 over 80 LBS add $30
***Dog needs to have rabies vaccine up to date, if not up to date we charge $25.
***Heartworm test is included with neuter/spay.
