Are you looking at spending time with our shelter dogs?
Here's your chance to take a dog on a Pawsitive Adventure around town for the day.
Did you know that just a few hours outside the shelter can make a world of difference for our pups here?
They do! These outings help our dogs burn off excess energy, experience new environments, and interact with different people which in return gives them much needed mental stimulation.
Thanks to our new program DMCHS Pawsitive Adventures, our dogs will become calmer and more confident when meeting potential adopters, they pick up valuable life skills that they wouldn't gain by staying at the shelter.
We would also like you to capture the fun by taking pictures or videos while out and sharing them with us!
These moments will not only brighten our day, but will also showcase the dogs to a wider audience, including people who do not visit the shelter.
Every smile, tail wag, and adventure helps bring our pups one step closer to finding their furever home.

Indoor Dog Park-A fun place to go with the pup for inside play, and there are lots of fun treats and things for you to purchase for the pup. If you choose to go here, please call to make an appointment for the day you want to go. Visit their website at http://www.theparkburlington.com/ . The complete medical history for the pup you have will be included in the bag.
Pet Supplies Plus- Walking through to pick out a favorite toy or treat helps us all see what that particular dog likes. Meeting new people can be fun too.
Crapo/Dankwardt Park- Walking through these parks with all the nice trails and seeing wildlife.
Stores that allow dogs- More socializing and getting them out for the public to see.
Your home-Make sure to dog proof some, but to see how they are like in a home setting is always helpful...did they want to go outside to potty? Did they jump on the couch, enjoy it? What if you eat in from of them? Did they beg or steal your food? LOL So many questions and curiosity is what we want to know and see.
Car Ride-Some dogs are not too sure about car rides and some love them...maybe the last time they were in one they were dropped off somewhere and never came back for them... show them car rides are fun, get them a cheeseburger to show them the other great places you can go in a car.
These are just some ideas of fun things to do!
No going to the Dog Park- Some dogs do not like other dogs, some do, bringing them back to the shelter after running out there can bring in certain possible diseases also.
No meeting your dog at home- this is a day to spoil this pup, and sometimes meeting new dogs is not as fun for them either. Leave all the dog introducing to us, if you think your dog would be good to have with ours they have to have proof of being up to date and fixed, along with riding in separate cars during the outing and never being left alone.
We want this to be fun for our pups, spoil them and show them the extra love they deserve in a safe and understanding way.
